MANILA, Philippines - A man who used to work for a credit card firm’s customer service was arrested for allegedly stealing a client’s personal information and making more than P6 million worth of fraudulent transactions, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.
Lou Philip Shawn Castañeda was arrested in an entrapment operation in Quezon City for misrepresenting Dario Boiles of the United States.
He applied for a credit card replacement “through fraudulent means and without knowledge and authority of the credit card member,” the NBI said.
During the entrapment, Castañeda presented a fake identification card to undercover NBI agents who posed as delivery men of a carrier service.
According to the NBI, Castañeda used to work for Hinduja Global Solutions Limited, a third-party customer service of a credit card firm, until he left in January.
