2 bodies found in Makati

MANILA, Philippines - The bodies of two men, suspected to be victims of summary execution, were found in Barangay Pio del Pilor in Makati City yesterday.

The victims, identified as Genesis Gonzaga and Ricardo Cortez, were reportedly members of the Sputnik jailhouse gang and robbers who operated in Makati and Pasay, according to Senior Police Officer 2 Jason David of the Makati police’s criminal investigation division.

Gonzaga and Cortez were found stuffed in separate garbage bags along Calhoun street at around 5:30 a.m.

David said the victims’ hands were tied and their bodies bore stab wounds all over. He said an icepick could have been used to stab them.

Ligature marks on their necks indicate they had been strangled, David said.

David said that it is possible that the men were killed elsewhere and their bodies abandoned in Makati.
