MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Malabon City government’s disaster risk reduction and management office was shot dead in front of his house yesterday morning.
Rio Bravo, 52, was about to clean his car in front of his house on Vicencio street in Barangay Niugan at around 5:30 a.m. when a man on a motorcycle shot him thrice, according to Chief Inspector Reynaldo Medina, Malabon investigation and detection chief.
Bravo died at the scene while the assailant, who was reportedly wearing a raincoat, fled.
Medina said Bravo’s family refused to talk to the police but one of the victim’s daughters told him that her father had been receiving death threats.
He also confirmed that two of the victim’s siblings, identified only as Joy and Armie, were also killed in similar fashion several years ago.
Bravo’s officemates were mum on the incident but a source at the Malabon city hall told The STAR the victim had a spat with a very close friend after the latter’s daughter filed a rape case against him two years ago.
The case was reportedly dismissed and the two never reconciled.
