MANILA, Philippines - A fluvial procession for the Sto. Niño de Cebu was held along the Pasig River yesterday morning.
It was the first time a fluvial parade for the revered image was held in Metro Manila to mark the 450th anniversary of the discovery of the Sto. Niño de Cebu in 1565.
A mass was celebrated at 7 a.m. at the Manila Cathedral prior to the procession.
From Intramuros, the image was brought to the ferry terminal in Guadalupe Viejo, Makati for a mass at the Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish Church.
The image was transferred to the Sto. Niño de Cebu Parish in Biñan, Laguna.
The image arrived in Manila on Aug. 14.
The Philippine Coast Guard and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority helped secure the fluvial parade.
