GMA allowed to attend brother’s burial

MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan has allowed former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to attend the funeral of her brother, Arturo Macapagal, tomorrow.

The anti-graft court also allowed her to attend her brother’s wake at Heritage Park in Taguig City yesterday afternoon.

But in a ruling issued yesterday, the Sandiganbayan denied her request to be permitted to take part in a novena for the ninth day of her brother’s death on Aug. 19.

Arroyo is under hospital arrest while on trial for plunder for her alleged involvement in the misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
