Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 30 families were left homeless when an insect catcher exploded, triggering a fire in Pasig City yesterday.

No one was reported hurt in the fire, arson investigators said.

The blaze broke out in the house of Elmer Unsay along Dr. Sixto Avenue in Barangay Maybunga at about 5:30 a.m. and spread to nearby houses.

The residents tried but failed to put out the fire with pails of water. The fire reached the fifth alarm before it was declared under control at 7 a.m. Damage to property was placed at P2 million.

Junjun Concepcion, chairman of Barangay Maybunga, said the affected families were given temporary shelter at the barangay hall.
