Quezon City’s most wanted falls
MANILA, Philippines - A murder suspect tagged as the third most wanted man in Quezon City was arrested in a police operation in Parañaque City over the weekend.
Jomar Morete did not resist arrest when cornered by police officers along Evacom, Sucat Road at past 3:30 p.m. Saturday, said Chief Superintendent Fernando Mendez, Intelligence Group head.
Mendez said Morete stabbed to death his fellow vendor, Ariel de la Peña, over an old grudge in Novaliches, Quezon City in October last year.
The fugitive was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant for murder issued by Judge Lita Tolentino-Genilo of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 91.
No bail was recommended for Morete.
According to Mendez, Morete’s arrest was part of the Philippine National Police’s “Lambat Sibat” project, a brainchild of Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas, focusing on wanted persons and criminal gangs.
