Indian businessman shot dead in Quezon City

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 52-year-old Indian businessman was shot dead in Barangay Milagrosa in Project 4, Quezon City Friday morning, an official said yesterday.

Kulpal Singh, a resident of Xavierville Subdivision, was lying on the ground beside his motorcycle when he was found by barangay councilor Eric Fuerte, according to case investigator Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero.

Singh had been shot repeatedly, he said.

Fuerte was in his house when he heard successive gunshots, then saw two men on a motorcycle speed past. He said the passenger was carrying a handgun.

Tejerero said Fuerte called up barangay watchmen to help him report the incident.

Two 9mm cartridge cases and a deformed slug were found at the scene.

Inspector Elmer Monsalve, who heads the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit’s homicide section, said they will ask the victim’s widow to establish the motive for the shooting.

He said the victim’s belongings and motorcycle were intact.

Monsalve added that they asked residents who live near the crime scene for copies of footage taken by their closed-circuit television cameras.
