Ex-PNP chief’s kin charged for drug dens

MANILA, Philippines - A man reported to be a cousin of former Philippine National Police director Nicanor Bartolome was charged for allegedly selling shabu and maintaining drug dens in BF Homes Subdivision in Parañaque City yesterday.

Diosdado Bartolome Jr. and 13 others were charged before the city prosecutor’s office yesterday for violating several provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

They are currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), whose agents raided three houses he operated on East N. Jacinto street Friday night.

Bartolome’s parents are the founders of the Charismatic Outreach Ministries Foundations Inc. (COMFI).

Bartolome’s house and that of his mother – both reportedly used as drug dens – are located behind the church. Several sachets of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in his son’s room, the NBI said. The third house is nearby.

Bartolome denied peddling shabu but admitted that three houses were used by people who wanted to “jam” with them.

Students, some of them minors, also use an empty lot in front of his house to use drugs, allegedly bought from Bartolome, the NBI said.
