LTFRB to probe bus firm over X-rated film
MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will investigate a bus firm after an inspection team found a digital video disc of an X-rated movie in the DVD player of one of its vehicles, an official said yesterday.
The LTFRB has ordered the R. Volante bus firm to explain its side, board member Ariel Inton said.
According to the driver, the DVD was never shown to passengers, he added.
The DVD was only played when members of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) inspected the bus, according to Inton.
Members of the MTRCB randomly inspected buses at the Cubao terminal in Quezon City to check what movies are shown on buses.
As of yesterday, the LTFRB has yet to receive a formal complaint from the MTRCB.
Under a joint administrative order of the LTFRB and the Land Transportation Office, the bus company may be fined P5,000 for the first offense. A second offense means a P10,000 fine and the impounding of the bus involved in the violation.
The bus firm faces a P15,000 fine and cancellation of its franchise for the third offense.
