MANILA, Philippines - An alleged leader of a robbery gang victimizing UV Express passengers in Pasig City and nearby areas was arrested in Bulacan over the weekend.
Antonio Maguddatu Jr. did not resist arrest when cornered by police officers along Vice Mayor Mendoza street in Barangay Lolomboy, Bocaue town at around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Maguddatu was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant for robbery issued by Manila Judge Silverio Castillo.
The court set a P100,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
Senior Superintendent Ronald Lee, Task Force Tugis chief, said the fugitive is the leader of the Maguddatu robbery group preying on UV Express passengers in Pasig City.
Lee said Maguddatu went into hiding after learning that the court had issued a warrant for his arrest.
An informant tipped off the police about Maguddatu’s presence in Bulacan a week before his arrest.
Lee called on the other victims of Maguddatu to surface and file charges against him.
Maguddatu was detained at the Task Force Tugis headquarters at Camp Crame.
