POEA revokes recruitment firm’s license

Sheila Crisostomo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has revoked a recruitment agency’s license for attempting to deploy two household service workers to Dubai using “concealed” visas.

The two workers deployed by Chanceteam International Services Inc. were barred from boarding their flight when each of them presented two visas for different positions but with the same permit numbers, POEA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said.

The workers were processed at the POEA under two-year contracts as cashier and hairdresser, respectively, but will eventually work as housemaid and babysitter as indicated in the other two visas, he added.

The recruitment firm used non-domestic worker job orders for the United Arab Emirates to facilitate their deployment, according to Cacdac.
