MANILA, Philippines - A puppet theater version of the “Passion of the Christ” – featuring Filipino versions of Mary and Jesus – will be staged for free at Teacher’s Village in Quezon City this afternoon.
Papet Pasyon, now on its 30th year, will be staged at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Papet Teatro-Museo by Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas, the pioneer children’s theater and puppetry group in the country.
Amihan Bonifacio-Ramolete, company manager, said the presentation seeks to introduce to the children the highlights of the Lenten Season. She said Papet Pasyon limits the violent content and the gore to make the performance child-friendly.
