MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a 30-year-old teacher for allegedly molesting his eight-year-old student in Quezon City Monday night.
Lester de Guzman, a grade III teacher, invited the boy to his house in Project 6 at past 7 p.m. Sunday, case investigator Police Officer 1 Rose Yumul said.
Once inside his house, Yumul said the suspect told the boy to take off his clothes and started molesting him.
The boy revealed his ordeal to his mother, prompting the latter to report the incident to barangay officials and the Masambong police station.
De Guzman was detained at the police station. Charges of child abuse or exploitation were filed against him before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.
Yumul said this is not the first time that De Guzman was charged with a similar offense.
Police Officer 2 Armalyn Lomasang, women’s desk officer of the Masambong police station, said the teacher is suspected of molesting two other children recently.
Lomasang, however, said the parents of the children have yet to file a complaint against De Guzman.
“A police team went to their homes on Monday but their parents were not around,” she said.
Lomasangalleged that De Guzman would dance and strip off his clothes in front of a group of teenage boys every time he got drunk.
