Catholics told: No shorts, low necklines during mass
MANILA, Philippines - The temperature might have begun to rise, but parishioners should not use this as an excuse to show more skin when they attend mass, a Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) official said yesterday.
Fr. Jerome Secillano, CBCP public affairs committee executive secretary, said the faithful should not wear clothes with plunging necklines, spaghetti-strap dresses, short shorts, sports attire such as sleeveless shirts, caps, hats and cycling shorts.
“If the heat is unbearable, the faithful may settle for light-colored clothes or those made of thin materials,” he added.
Secillano also said church officials should also install more electric fans and other measures to make parishioners more comfortable.
