MANILA, Philippines - Another Filipino-Chinese businessman was killed in Manila Sunday, making it the second murder in as many days.
Fritz Linjohn Chu, 31, of Parañaque City, was shot in the head in Sta. Cruz, Manila at around 7 p.m. Sunday.
He was about to go into his car, parked on the ground floor of Parkson Square building on Rizal Avenue, when a man approached him and shot him in the face at close range.
Chu was taken to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where physicians declared him dead on arrival.
Witnesses have yet to surface and the motive for his murder remains unknown.
Homicide investigators of the Manila Police District have two suspects in Chu’s killing: a parking attendant and a client of his cell phone repair shop.
Chu and the parking attendant had been at odds for quite some time while the client threatened to kill the businessman last week, Senior Police Officer 3 Glenzor Vallejo said.
Chu’s death came a day after bar owner Angel Dy was found hogtied in his car in Intramuros, Manila.
Dy’s hands and feet were bound with masking tape when he was found dead at the back of his Mitsubishi Montero (TQV-527) in Manila at about 4 a.m. on Saturday.
Investigators are looking into robbery as the motive for the attack – Dy’s clutch bag containing cash and cellular phones was missing. They added it was also possible that Dy, who had heart problems, died of a heart attack.
Dy was last seen alive at his bar at around 7 p.m. Friday, according to Police Officer 2 Dennis Turla, who added that it was part of the victim’s routine to drop by the bar every day.
