Tsinoy bar owner found dead in SUV
MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino-Chinese bar owner was found dead, his hands and feet bound, in the back seat of his sport utility vehicle in Intramuros, Manila before dawn yesterday.
Angel Dy’s clutch bag, containing his cell phone and an undetermined amount of money, was missing from his Mitsubishi Montero (TQV-527), according to Police Officer 2 Dennis Turla of the Manila Police District’s homicide investigation section.
Probers said it was possible that Dy died of a heart attack when he was robbed.
Dy was last seen alive at his bar and restaurant at around 7 p.m. Friday. It had been part of his routine to drop by at the establishment every day, Turla said.
At around 3 a.m. yesterday, hours after Dy left, his wife called the bar’s cashier to ask where her husband was.
Turla said the cashier was surprised to find Dy’s car was still outside the bar and saw the victim’s body inside.
Investigators are checking footage taken by surveillance cameras in the area to see who bound Dy.
