Lawyer arrested for drunk driving

MANILA, Philippines - A lawyer was arrested in Quezon City for violating the anti-drunk driving law during the first day of implementation of the breath analyzer test Thursday. 

Michael Angel Ventura III was pulled over by enforcers of the Land Transportation Office along Tomas Morato at past 11:30 p.m., LTO spokesman Jason Salvador said.

Salvador said Ventura underwent a breath analyzer test and was found to be drunk.

The lawyer’s blood alcohol content was 0.12 percent or two times higher than the allowed 0.05 percent of BAC.

The LTO said the crackdown on drunk drivers is part of the implementation of the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.

 Salvador said Ventura was brought to the Quezon City prosecutor’s office for inquest proceedings yesterday.
