Ex-soldier nabbed for gunrunning

MANILA, Philippines - A former soldier was arrested for allegedly selling unlicensed high-powered firearms and ammunition in Quezon City Wednesday night.

Gerald Stephen Soriano, 46, reportedly sold a carbine M2 rifle, two M2 rifle magazines and 30 cartridges for P20,000 to undercover police officers, according to Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao.

Soriano, said to have been honorably discharged from the military, was charged for violating Republic Act 10591, the comprehensive firearms law.
