MANILA, Philippines - Six police officials in Metro Manila have been charged before the ombudsman for the demolition of houses in Makati City that displaced at least 43 families on March 3.
Charged with violations of Republic Act 7279 and the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act were National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Carmelo Valmoria; Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Henry Rañola; Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Ernesto Barlam; his deputy Superintendent Jaime Santos; Chief Inspector Joel Anas, head of the Special Weapons and Tactics, and Senior Inspector Rudy Tallod, a precinct commander of the Makati police.
Director Carmelo Seracarpio of the ombudsman’s investigation bureau received the complaint filed by Rogelio Morano, administrator of Skyline International Inc., against the police officials.
