MANILA, Philippines - A man wanted for at least two murders robbed a convenience store in Caloocan City Tuesday morning and killed its 24-year-old cashier.
Roel Tugano, 33, a former security guard of the convenience store, was caught by surveillance cameras disarming the establishment’s guard and stabbing Michael Angelo Orejana at past 8 a.m.
Tugano attacked Orejana when the cashier hesitated to give him the money in the cash register, city police chief Senior Superintendent Bartolome Bustamante said.
Employees of a nearby gas station told police that they saw a man leave the store and speed away on a motorcycle.
A security officer of the store told investigators that Tugano was charged with qualified theft in March 2014 for allegedly stealing at least P11,000 and a .38 caliber revolver.
Barangay 182 chairman Rowl Brin told probers that Tugano was charged with murder in Panganiban, Catanduanes and reportedly killed his father-in-law in October 2014.
Tugano remains at large.
