Woman, 73, foils mugger

MANILA, Philippines -  A 73-year-old woman managed to foil an attempt to rob her in Malabon City Sunday morning.

Corazon Macaso was walking along Garcia street in Barangay San Agustin at around 7:30 a.m. when Joseph Montes blocked her path and demanded at knifepoint that she give him her bag, which contained P6,100.

Montes snatched her bag and tried to run but Macaso held onto her bag and started shouting. The commotion attracted the attention of barangay watchmen and local police, who cornered Montes.

Lawmen confiscated a knife and a sachet of shabu from the suspect.
