British drug suspect nabbed in Taguig
MANILA, Philippines - A British man wanted in his own country on drug charges was arrested in Taguig City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.
John Haliday was apprehended in front of the British embassy by the NBI’s Interpol Division last month.
“He is the first fugitive hiding in the Philippines who was arrested because of the extradition treaty between their country and the Philippines,” a source from NBI told The STAR.
He would be a test case of the country’s recently approved extradition treaty with the British government, the source said.
Haliday is currently detained at the NBI jail.
