Cop facing charges for violating traffic rules

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A police officer is in trouble for allegedly violating traffic regulations and displaying arrogance toward his fellow officers in Malabon City Wednesday night.

Police Officer 1 Lord James Suarez was accosted by officers manning a checkpoint on Dr. Lascano street in Barangay Tugatog for not wearing a helmet, drunk driving and driving without a license. His motorcycle had no vehicle registration plates.

Suarez reportedly ignored Inspector Joseph Gordovez and his men, who pulled him over at around 11 p.m.

“We were inspecting motorcycle riders when Suarez passed by. He shouted ‘pulis ako’ and tried to drive past,” Gordovez said.

Suarez, who was reportedly reeking with liquor, failed to produce his driver’s license and papers for his motorcycle, and tried to escape.

Gordovez and his men pursued and arrested him.

Investigation showed Suarez is detailed at the Valenzuela police station.
