Manhunt on forrobbers targeting QC shops
MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has launched a manhunt for the men behind a series of robberies involving several shops in the city, an official said yesterday.
The QCPD created a task group for the manhunt following the killing of the Korean owner of Bean Leaf restaurant during a robbery on Monday afternoon, Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, city police chief, said.
Since December 2014, at least eight shops had been robbed, among them Café Hugo along E. Rodriguez Ave-nue; Le Joyz Spa on Tomas Morato street; a furniture shop along Katipunan Avenue; and Infinitea tea shop along Regalado Avenue, Pagdilao said.
The robbers pretend to be customers and usually order their victims to take off their clothes just before they leave.
Most of the shops did not have security guards or closed-circuit television systems, according to Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, who heads the QCPD’s criminal investigation and detection unit.
