Bar exams moved to November

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Bar examinations this year will be held in November.

The Supreme Court (SC) approved yesterday the recommendation of the Philippine Association of Law Schools to move to a later date the licensure exams for lawyers, originally set in October.

The high court moved the exams due to the academic calendar shift for most law schools and its effect on the examinees’ review period.

Bar Confidant Cristina Layusa, who had endorsed the recommendation, said the venue will be announced later.

This year’s Bar Exams, the 114th to be conducted in the country, will be chaired by Associate Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro.

The Bar examinations will take place over the four Sundays of November, requiring examinees to answer in long hand.

In 2011, the Bar exams were held in November when then Bar Chair SC Associate Justice Roberto Abad moved the date from September to avoid the rainy season.

The following year, however, the exams were moved from November to October. In 2013 and 2014, the Bar Exams were again held in October.

The SC has yet to release the results of last year’s Bar exams.
