Retiree claims P16-M lotto jackpot

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 68-year-old retiree from Las Piñas City has claimed the P16-million jackpot in the 6/49 Super Lotto draw last Jan. 20, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced yesterday.

The winner, who claimed his prize last Friday, told PCSO acting chairman Jose Ferdinand Rojas II that he has been playing lotto since the online game was launched in 1995.

He said he did not maintain a certain set of numbers – he simply chose the lucky pick option, which involves computer-generated number combinations.

The winner bought three sets of tickets, one of which carried the six-digit winning combination 46-19-07-18-17-40.

The winner, who is married but childless, told Rojas that he would share his winnings with his 13 siblings and save some for his needs.

The 6/49 Super Lotto is drawn every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
