MANILA, Philippines - With the end of the Christmas holiday moratorium on road works in Metro Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) resumed its road repair projects in Quezon City, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.
On Dec. 15, 2014, the MMDA imposed a moratorium on road reblocking projects across Metro Manila as part of its plan to ease the flow of traffic during the Christmas holiday rush.
The MMDA said the reblocking started last night and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday.
The affected roads are: Mindanao Avenue (third lane), from Road 20 to Congressional Avenue; C.P. Garcia Avenue (third lane), from Pook Aguinaldo to Katipunan Avenue; Quirino Highway (fourth inner lane), from Service Road to Balon Bato; Batasan Road (first inner lane), from the Department of Social Welfare and Development building to Payatas Road; Congressional Avenue (first lane), from Sinagtala street to Mindanao Avenue; and Congressional Avenue Extension (third lane), Luzon Avenue to Tandang Sora Avenue.
Noemi Recio, who heads the MMDA’s traffic engineering center, said these roads were recommended for concrete reblocking by DPWH-National Capital Region director Reynaldo Tagudando.
The MMDA advised motorists to avoid these areas and use alternate routes instead.
