QC grants relief for delinquent taxpayers

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As part of the city’s commemoration of its 75th founding anniversary, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has approved a measure providing tax relief for residents who incurred more than five years of delinquent real property taxes.

The ordinance, authored by first district Councilor Victor Ferrer Jr., provided that residents may pay the taxes they owe from 2010 to 2014 and are relieved from paying taxes they incurred prior to 2010.

“Upon full payment thereof, the taxpayers shall be allowed to make payment for the year 2015,” the ordinance read.

The residents may settle their delinquencies until June this year.

The ordinance said the tax relief would not cover properties that have been auctioned by the city government and those that are currently being paid under a compromise agreement.
