8 injured as bus rams MRT post

MANILA, Philippines - A bus rammed a concrete post of the Metro Rail Transit near Guadalupe station along EDSA Tuesday, leaving eight people injured including the driver and bus conductor.

Three of the injured passengers were identified as Rose Ann Ablaza, 23; Jose Gimoro, 58, and Allen Diamante, 33.

A rescue unit of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) rushed them to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment.

Valentine Docdocil, driver of Roval Transport bus with license plates UVF-128, had to be pulled out from the vehicle, according to the MMDA.

Reports said the bus was headed to Quezon City when it crashed into the MRT post at around 6 p.m.

The bus’ windshield was shattered, pinning its driver behind the wheel.

Docdocil said the bus lost its brakes before slamming into the concrete post.
