FDA warns vs whitening solution kit

MANILA, Philippines - Citing possible health risks, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public yesterday against using a whitening solution kit being sold online and in dermatological clinics.

The Gultax 5GS Kit – which contains glutathione, vitamin E and ascorbic acid injectables – are not registered with the FDA, according to director general Nicolas Lutero III.

He said this means the product’s safety, quality and efficacy cannot be guaranteed.

Lutero added that consumers need prescriptions to purchase injectables, which should only be administered by health care practitioners.
