MANILA, Philippines - The 10th of 16 inmates who escaped from the Cubao police station in Quezon City last Wednesday has been recaptured, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said yesterday.
John Sicat, who faces a physical injury charge, was the latest to be arrested.
Those who surrendered or were caught earlier were identified as Dennis Natividad, Benedict Guinto, Thomas Evan Labutong and Miguel Gino, all accused of violating City Ordinance 5121, which penalizes the possession of deadly weapons; Roberto Valdez, robbery; Robert Lacaba, alarm and scandal; Rigor Alejandrino, theft and shoplifting; Emerson Castro, frustrated homicide; and John Patrick Dionido, rape and robbery.
The manhunt for six more escapees from the police station jail is ongoing, the QCPD said.
The detainees escaped when the duty desk officer at the time, Senior Police Officer 1 Jade Gavina, went to the restroom at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Gavina and the station commander, Superintendent Wilson delos Santos, were removed from their posts following the jailbreak.
