Worker tries to jump off Pasay building

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A worker attempted to jump from a condominium building under construction in Pasay City Friday afternoon.

Reports said Melvin Mujerez, 24, climbed the seventh floor of an unfinished building along Roxas Boulevard and threatened to jump off at past 12:30 p.m.

Rescuers were able to convince him to go down after almost nine hours of negotiation.

Mujerez was rescued by Pasay policemen and personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The rescuers said Mujerez tried to commit suicide due to family problems.

Police said a complaint for alarm and scandal would be filed against him.
