Papua New Guinean held for slapping guard

Aie Balagtas See - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested yesterday a Papua New Guinean for slapping a security guard who was manning the dormitory where his girlfriend was staying in Malate, Manila.

Norri Emmanuel Doa, 21, a student of Adamson University, was eventually released after Gapor Dagenday, 27, dropped the complaint against him, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.

Police said Doa slapped Dagenday in the right jaw after the guard refused him entry to the dormitory where his girlfriend identified as Janet Kapak was staying at past 6 a.m.

According to the MPD’s General Assignment Section, the foreigner had been banned from entering the dormitory because of his unruly behavior.

Doa, however, insisted that he be allowed to visit Kapak.

When Dagenday declined, the suspect hit him, prompting the security guard to call the police and have the foreigner sent to the police headquarters.

Police said Doa apologized to Dagenday.
