9 more females file charges vs ‘serial rapist’
MANILA, Philippines - Nine more females, two of them minors, filed charges against an alleged serial rapist in Caloocan City, bringing to 17 the number of complainants against him, police said yesterday.
Charges ranging from acts of lasciviousness to rape, some for attacks dating back to 2012, were filed in different courts in Caloocan and Bulacan against 42-year-old Albert Biol.
“When reports of his (Biol) arrest came out, several women surfaced and related their ordeal. Now we can see the real picture and the magnitude of his crimes,” said Police Officer 3 Alcee Jumaquio.
Four of the complainants are either married or living with their partners, one is a service crew of a restaurant, another is a therapist while one is an 18-year-old student.
Biol was arrested at the Bernardino Hospital on Dec. 10, where he was treated for head injuries after he reportedly broke into a house in Bankers Village and killed its owner, who had hit him on the head with a blunt object.
His arrest came five months after Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan ordered the arrest of a rapist preying on women in the Bukid Area.
Within hours of his arrest, 10 women went to the police station and identified Biol as the man who reportedly raped and robbed them at gunpoint.
Investigators said Biol, who also uses the alias Daniel Mercado, had pending arrest warrants for rape in Bulacan.

Jumaquio said Biol picks his targets by pretending to be a balut vendor or a representative of a water or power firm. Some of his victims are in remote villages in Bulacan, he added.
“Once he is sure that the woman was alone, he would knock on the door and announce the heist. If he sees that the woman is pretty, then he would rape her at gunpoint,” he said.
Jumaquio said Biol was accompanied by a certain “Boy” in at least 10 out of the more than 20 robberies he reportedly committed. He said there is an ongoing manhunt for Biol’s alleged accomplice.
At least three of the victims said Biol dragged them to a grassy lot near their houses and raped them.
A source said Biol’s wife told investigators her husband is a “sex addict” who forces her to have sex at least once every day. She said he would rush out of the house each time she refuses.
She also admitted that she wonders where he gets his money considering that they are both jobless.
“The wife said that there were instances when they would quarrel because he was not able to have sex with her and she would later hear in the news that a woman was raped several barangays away from their area,” the source said.
