Thunderstorms worsen MM traffic jams
MANILA, Philippines - Thunderstorms affecting portions of Metro Manila yesterday worsened the Christmas rush traffic gridlocks in the nation’s capital.
Monstrous traffic jams were experienced along major roads as moderate to heavy rainfall resulted in gutter-deep floods in some areas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued thunderstorm warnings around 3 p.m. in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The weather bureau said the thunderstorms were caused by the northeast monsoon.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods,” PAGASA said in its advisory.
