Pasig church robbed of donations, equipment

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A church in Pasig City lost an undetermined amount of donations and P100,000 worth of equipment to at least one robber during a heavy downpour brought about by Typhoon Ruby before dawn yesterday.

Darwin Gaspar, 25, a teacher and leader of the Christ Commission Fellowship, reported the robbery to the Pasig City police yesterday.

Police Officer 3 Laurence Punzalan said Gaspar was working on his computer in the church on Eusebio Avenue when he heard the door open at around 4 a.m.

When Gaspar checked, he discovered the church’s gate wide open and the padlock at the front door missing, Punzalan said.

Gaspar said a neighbor told him that he saw an unidentified man hurriedly walking out of the church, carrying a large bag.

When Gaspar returned to the church, he found almost all the drawers and donation boxes had been emptied. He said the robber also took away two laptops and a liquid crystal display projector.

Police officers lifted fingerprints from the crime scene and are interviewing witnesses to help identify the robber.
