Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) should make sure to cut off Internet connections and confiscate electronic gadgets from inmates in New Bilibid Prison, the Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) said yesterday.

Chief Inspector Roque Merdegia, head of the AIDSOTF’s investigation unit, said some drug lords still manage their illegal business from their prison cells through their gadgets and Internet connections.

BuCor director Franklin Bucayu said he has been ridding the bureau of erring personnel.

He also said 67 electronic gadgets, 22 laptop computers, 1,858 mobile phones, 699 mobile phone accessories and 42 radio transceivers were confiscated from the inmates.
