Makati throws victory parade for Pacman
MANILA, Philippines - Boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao will be given a victory parade in Makati City today.
Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay will lead city employees in welcoming Pacquiao to the city hall.
In a post on its website, the city government said Pacquiao is scheduled to make a courtesy call on Binay at 9 a.m.
The city government will fete Pacquiao with an assembly at the city hall quadrangle and a victory parade along Ayala Avenue leading to the Hotel InterContinental, where a press conference will be held.
A parade will follow at around 10 a.m., moving toward J.P. Rizal then to A.P. Reyes. It will then head for the covered court of Barangay Carmona and proceed to Pasong Tamo. The parade will turn left to Gil Puyat (Buendia) Avenue, turn right to Ayala Avenue and then to InterContinental.
Enforcers of the Makati Public Safety Department will provide traffic assistance and secure those joining the parade.
Binay said Makati residents and workers are eager to show their support for Pacquiao, who brought pride to the nation with his win over Chris Algieri last Sunday in Macau.
Binay lauded Pacquiao for inspiring millions of people around the world, including the people of Makati, “with his indomitable spirit and extraordinary boxing skills.”
Pacquiao is an ally of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
