MANILA, Philippines - Police are looking for a taxi driver who robbed his passenger along EDSA in Quezon City last Monday.
Achico Adonis, 45, was charged with robbery and car theft before the city prosecutor’s office, Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao said.
Pagdilao said the cabbie had been driving for A Villegas taxi for just a day when he pulled off the heist.
Adonis was identified through the personal belongings he left behind in the cab after he fled, police said.
Charlotte de Villa Turingan lost her iPhone, wallet with P2,500 cash and other valuables to the suspect.
Turingan was in a white Toyota Corolla (UWB-491) taxi driven by Adonis when he pulled out a gun and declared the heist.
As the cabbie prepared to escape, the vehicle ran out of gas and stopped at the EDSA-Kamuning flyover.
Isaac Mariano, a traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, approached the cab on his Suzuki Thunder motorcycle.
Adonis took Mariano’s motorcycle at gunpoint and drove away.
Pagdilao said the motorcycle was recovered yesterday along Quezon Avenue.
