MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has made up a list of rogue police officers and is building up a case against each one on the list, an official said yesterday.
NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria vowed to “neutralize” the police officers on the list, calling them “termites” who are destroying the police force through their illegal activities.
“My advise to these termites is to take off their uniforms and get out of the police service. They are only a few, but they are putting the police organization to shame,” he said in an interview.
Valmoria said they are in the process of “conducting a 15-day case buildup” against the police officers, whose “days are numbered.”
According to Valmoria, the 15 Manila policemen relieved for keeping at least five kilos of shabu in their lockers and the three Pasay City policemen who reportedly helped rob a messenger of P1 million are most likely to be the first casualties in his bid to rid the NCRPO of termites.
“We are hastening the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against them so they are kicked out of the police service as soon as possible,” he said.
The NCRPO chief did not reveal the names or exact number of police officers they are targeting for neutralization.
Since he assumed command of the NCRPO December last year, Valmoria has dismissed at least 180 police officers. However, he has also handed medals to 26,000 police officers for outstanding feats and accomplishments during this period.
