Rob gang boss, 3 others nabbed
MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Las Piñas police who allegedly leads a robbery group responsible for a series of armed heists in Metro Manila was arrested along with his three cohorts Tuesday night.
Police Officer 3 Magdaleno Pacia, Rogelio Villamor, Edmar Hernandez and Reynaldo Ramos were intercepted by a police team in front of a mall along Zapote Road at past 6:30 p.m., city police chief Senior Superintendent Adolfo Samala Jr. said.
The suspects were caught in a Toyota Innova and Nissan sedan allegedly waiting for a would-be victim, police said.
Samala said they received information that the suspects were planning to rob a businessman in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Seized from the suspects were a caliber .45 pistol, an assault rifle, a caliber 9mm pistol with silencer, a caliber .38 pistol, a hand grenade and ammunition.
Police also recovered five cell phones and P22,000 in cash from the suspects.
Samala said one of the suspects admitted that they were involved in robberies in Metro Manila and Bulacan.
The suspects faced inquest proceedings before the city prosecutor’s office yesterday, police said.
