Road 10 rob group chief nabbed
MANILA, Philippines - A man who allegedly leads a group robbing pedestrians as well as taxi and tricycle passengers along Road 10 in Tondo, Manila has been arrested.
Rolando Arcilla, who reportedly heads a seven-man gang, was apprehended for violating a city ordinance and possessing a fan knife in Tondo last week.
He was detained at the Tondo police station prior to being served an arrest warrant issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 42, which wants him for qualified illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Arcilla is the Raxabago, Manila police station’s most wanted suspect, with at least 11 cases under his belt.
Documents obtained by The STAR show that for this year alone, Arcilla was charged with 11 robberies, the latest of which was committed on Nov. 3.
“He is a repeat offender. He’d get caught, post bail, then rob again,” a source at the Manila Police District said.
The group’s members pose as tricycle or taxi drivers to rob passengers or pedestrians at knifepoint, according to investigators.
Other alleged members of the group were identified as Randy Mandeja, Robert Chua, Bonbon, Paquia, and Manny. Mandeja and Chua have been arrested but are set to post bail.
