Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  A man stabbed his 16-year-old sister for refusing to pull the plug of a rice cooker in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City over the weekend.

Police said the girl remains in critical condition at the Malabon General Hospital.

Her 22-year-old brother surrendered to the authorities.

Inspector Rosalitt Avila, chief of the Malabon police Women and Children Protection Desk, said the man told his younger sister to unplug the rice cooker at around 11 a.m. on Saturday but the latter refused.

An argument ensued between the siblings, prompting their mother to intervene. But the suspect shoved his mother, took a knife and stabbed his sister.
