MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has approved the promotion of six Philippine National Police officials assigned to key positions in the PNP.

Aquino signed the promotion of the police officials based on the recommendation of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima.

Promoted were PNP spokesman Wilben Mayor, Bernardo Diaz of the Cagayan Valley regional police, Rainer Idio of the Directorate for Plans, John Sosito of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Eastern Mindanao, Allan Parreno of Ilocos PNP, and Teresita Dumlao of the Health Services. All hold the rank of chief superintendent.

Purisima is expected to lead the donning of the rank on the six police officials in a ceremony to be held today at Camp Crame.

Mayor, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1985, said his promotion serves not only as an inspiration but a challenge for him to do better in his job.

“I thank the President, Interior Secretary Roxas and the PNP chief for their trust and confidence,” he said.

Mayor was appointed PNP spokesman last month, replacing Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac who was reassigned to the Logistics Support Service.

He was also assigned at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and later became chief of the Valenzuela City police.
