Teen slashes aunt’s throat

MANILA, Philippines – A 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday morning after he slashed his aunt’s throat when she berated him for playing at an online gaming shop.

Joana Suazo, 36, was dead by the time village watchmen arrived at her house in Barangay Baesa at around 9 a.m., said Inspector Elmer Monsalve, head of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District.

The watchmen found Suazo’s nephew, a son of her brother, with a wounded hand wrapped in a strip of cloth. The victim had been taking care of the boy after his parents left him behind.

The boy told authorities he blacked out when his aunt started scolding him.

The victim’s partner called village watchmen following the incident.
