2 Koreans held for extortion

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested two Koreans for allegedly extorting P267,000 from a fellow Korean at a coffee shop in Malate, Manila Thursday night.

Han Hyeo Seok and Jeun Su Hyun were nabbed shortly after they received the marked money from the complainant identified as Kim Hyung Wook, 35, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Director Benjamin Magalong said.

Magalong said the victim worked as a computer programmer for the suspects.

Superintendent Danilo Macerin of the CIDG National Capital Region said the two Koreans underwent inquest proceedings yesterday for robbery and extortion.

The CIDG has informed the Korean embassy about the incident.
