15,000 cops, force multipliers deployed in Metro cemeteries
MANILA, Philippines - At least 15,000 policemen and force multipliers were deployed yesterday in 91 cemeteries in Metro Manila to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ Day.
Bomb-sniffing dogs were also deployed at the North and La Loma cemeteries, Himlayang Pilipino, Manila Memorial Park and Loyola Memorial Park, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said.
“We are ready for any eventuality,” Valmoria said in an interview.
He said 4,278 policemen and 11,000 force multipliers, consisting of barangay watchmen and civilian volunteers, were deployed in the cemeteries starting at noon yesterday.
Valmoria ordered the five police district directors in the metropolis to supervise their personnel in the field and give an hourly update on the peace and order situation in cemeteries.
The NCRPO has been on full alert since Thursday.
President Aquino inspected the bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City and other parts of Metro Manila yesterday accompanied by Valmoria.
The NCRPO put up police assist hubs in all cemeteries to guide the public and deter pickpockets.
