Comedian arrested on drug raps

MANILA, Philippines - Comedian-singer Blakdyak (real name Joey Amoto) was arrested in Mandaluyong City last Oct. 21 while allegedly sniffing shabu, police said yesterday.

Blakdyak, who has been held at the city police’s detention facility since his arrest, was alone in a vacant room of a house on Sto. Rosario street, Barangay Plainview when policemen arrested him at around 1:30 p.m.

“It appears in the report that somebody tipped off the policemen of his illegal activities which led to his arrest,” city police deputy chief Superintendent Cresencio Landicho said in an interview.

Drug charges have been filed against the comedian with the city prosecutor’s office.

Last June, Blakdyak was also arrested for allegedly creating trouble in an apartelle in Cubao, Quezon City. – Non Alquitran, Janvic Mateo
