Erap to new MPD chief: Rid city of drugs

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - Pang-masa

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada yesterday ordered newly installed Manila Police District (MPD) director Senior Superintendent Rolando Nana to fight the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.

“So many young people are now hooked on drugs and some of them resort to crime. Some of the sensational cases were drug-related. It’s about time the police step up their fight against this menace,” Estrada said.

He also warned police officers who are involved in drugs that they will face the full force of the law. Nana, on the other hand, instructed all station commanders to monitor and arrest those involved in the illegal drug trade.
